Tending the Call: Cosmos and the True Self
with Jim Conlon of Sophia of Sophia Center and
Kathleen McCabe, OSF, Spiritual Director

How does the new Universe Story impact the spiritual journey and the way we talk about it?

As humans, we shape and are shaped by the stories that emerge from the interplay between experience and meaning-making. Our view of the nature of Reality profoundly impacts how we think, feel, and live. This series helps us to be aware of how we might be stuck in the old stories and explore how to live in the freshness of the always unfolding Creation.

The experiential part of this program will have two tracks: One for spiritual directors and one for anyone on the spiritual journey. Themes will include:

Story: Person, Planet, Universe One Story
Longing: Hunger for Sacredness and Depth Justice:
Beauty Shines Forth
Prayer: Entering the Monastery of the Universe

PRESENTATION TOPICS
(PARTIAL LIST)

Celebrating the Sacred Impulse
The Sacred Impulse is an inclination to act, a pre-occupation that prompts us to respond, a nagging feeling, a hunch, an unplanned magnetic intuition, a movement from the inside out, an awareness of spirit that hovers over the cosmos and summons us to life.

Creativity and Uniqueness: Becoming an Artist of Life

A world of violence and somatic illness cries out that much of our pain is the result of repressed creativity. So, how does creativity presents us with new challenges and profound questions? What does chaos contribute to the creative process? What are the spiritual practices that enhance creativity? What do pleasure and pain have to offer each of us? What do we learn about death and resurrection through the creative process? What is our unique contribution to the world? And what has the universe to tell us about creativity?

Imagining What It Means to be Human
What does it mean to be human in a universe that continues to unfold? What do we hear when we listen to the prompting's of the heart and the call of Creation? How do we activate our powers of creativity and compassion and become an integral human presence to heal and transform the world? Together we listen, remember, and imagine a new vision of humanity. This presentation includes process, reflection, and celebration.

Language for the Music of the Universe: Putting our vision into Practice
In a mechanized world of destruction, war and ecological devastation, what approaches can engage in to bring about a world of peace and promise for a better tomorrow? Through a process of listening, dream, story, action and liberation, we will explore how to put our vision into practice.
